Why coastal Taranaki homes need a bit more thought
Out near the water at Fitzroy, Bell Block and Oakura, it's the salt that does the damage. Salt-laden westerlies and south-westerlies come straight off the Tasman and chew through cheap outdoor units. We pick coils and coatings built for that, and we mount the outdoor unit where it gets a rain rinse and some shelter from the worst of the wind.
It's not deep frost you're fighting here, it's persistent coastal damp and high rainfall. A well-sized heat pump takes the moisture and chill out of a living room fast, which matters more than raw cold-weather grunt. Older inland homes versus newer coastal builds
Inland toward Inglewood and through the older streets of Westown and Central, you've got a lot of weatherboard bungalows and mid-century homes. High studs, single glazing and a bit of draught mean you often need a touch more capacity than the floor area alone suggests.

Yes. Waitara, Oakura and Inglewood are all in our regular patch. We know the coastal salt at Oakura and the older weatherboard homes inland, so we come prepared for each.
Do you charge extra for installs outside central New Plymouth?
We don't add a surprise charge for being outside the central suburbs within our normal area. If a job is a long way out and the travel or access changes things, we'll tell you upfront in the quote so there are no surprises.
